Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
We know how powerless it can feel to lack the tools and ability to help those who are hurting. You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to use trial and error to address confusion and destructive relationships. Here is one way Clarity in Action Ministries can help.
Last Saturday we had the privilege of presenting Light in the Darkness Training in northwest Iowa. Pastor Mike Gittins shared the importance of understanding why and how domination affects individuals and churches, then took time to lay the same foundation the apostle Paul laid–the foundation of our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Participants were given time to reflect and dialogue, to ask questions and help one another throughout the day.
Pastor Floyd Yutzy spoke on the importance of reading and interpreting Scripture by providing basic guidelines of biblical context. He then shared commonly misapplied passages that are often used to benefit some at the expense of others.
The training ended with practical theology, help for perpetrators and victims, followed by Q&A with our presenters and board member, Jamie Julius.
If you and your church are unaware of how domestic oppression affects your congregation–or you see it but don’t know what to do about it–please invite Clarity in Action. We ask for a $25 donation per person and travel costs. If that is a hardship, consider including others in your geographical area or engaging with us online via zoom.
Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm; but how can one person alone keep warm? And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:11-12)
We are extremely grateful for your prayers and partnership in the gospel. To keep Light in the Darkness Trainings affordable and cover start-up costs, your gifts are necessary and appreciated. Thank you.
